Engraving a memorial plaque
Egon Zimpel (*16 August 1943 in Burg; †29 April 2022 in Erfurt) was an important German painter and graphic artist who had a significant influence on the cultural scene in Erfurt in particular.
Zimpel was a founding member of the "Stiftung Krämerbrücke" and campaigned for the preservation of this historic landmark. He was also involved in various cultural initiatives, including the Erfurt cinema club and the "Neue Schauspiel Erfurt". In 1989 he played a central role in the occupation of the Erfurt Stasi headquarters by artists.
In 2017, Zimpel received the City of Erfurt's Letter of Honor for his artistic and social services. His work includes paintings and graphics.
On the occasion of his death, a memorial plaque was attached to the house on the Krämerbrücke where he lived for over 50 years. We had the honor of engraving this memorial plaque.
