Notes:
Engraving a round fountain pen requires a rolling device. Since the shaft alone is too short and the laser head runs the risk of colliding with the clamping device, we extend the working area with a sharpened dowel rod.
We mark the area of the fountain pen to be engraved with painter's tape and two lines at each end of the pen. This means we can even measure the upper area of the fountain pen barrel (similar to the nib) and the lower area (similar to the ink pipe) for engraving.
With the Lamy Studio it has proven to be a good idea not to set the energy so high because the color of the filler can be removed quite easily. A higher energy density would not make the engraving better, but could cause the paint to look burnt at the edge of the engraving.
A medium DPI and slow speed ensure a clean engraving image and sharp edges.
